Case Study #3

250+ employee biotech company

  • Company was spending $160,000 on an intelligence tool that only 3 people in the organization were using.  Transitioned to a comparable tool and saved the company $85,000.
  • Company's IP addresses were not accurately listed in subscription accounts, causing access issues and duplication of spend for acquiring articles.
  • Journal usage did not justify the subscription (savings of $1100).
  • Subscription holdings hadn’t been updated since the literature management system was implemented several years prior, resulting in emails to administrator (contact no longer at the company) that the content was unavailable and orders not getting processed.
  • Suggested purchase of tokens from heavily used publishers realizing savings of $13-$27/article.
  • Established Collaboration agreement  with Copyright Clearance Center to ensure copyright compliance for sharing PDFs with partnering companies.
